The following contains Moderate Spoilers for the eighth season of The CW's "Smallville." Although he has appeared in guest starring roles in numerous television shows (including "Dexter," "Bones," "CSI," "Angel," and "Cold Case," Sam Witwer is likely best known to genre fans as Crashdown in the SciFi Channel series, "Battlestar Galactica." The actor, always interested in taking a challenging role, has joined the cast of "Smallville" as Davis Bloome, an emergency medical technician who will be revealed as Doomsday, an enemy of Superman in the comics. "Although the show's producers did audition other actors for the role, they were literally banging my door down to get me to play the role," Witwer told SyFy Portal's Wayne Hall. "They were super-persistent. Besides, I feel ...

While the insider claimed that "nothing's been decided yet", producers reportedly are still considering on how big the roles they will play in the show. Thus, they will begin their parts as recurring players. Scott, allegedly will portray a character deemed "junior McDreamy".
The new season starts Thursday, September 25 on ABC. Katherine Heigl who was rumored to be out from the project said in an interview with Ok! magazine that her character, Dr. Izzy Stevens, will still be in the show but she hopes Izzy to have a brain tumor.

NBC's Dateline continued to post impressive numbers on Sunday, winning both the 9:00 p.m. hour and the 10:00 p.m. hour with back-to-back documentary features. The weekly news magazine has continued to dominate the two hours on Sunday since it was yanked from the earlier 7:00 p.m. hour last month, where it competed against CBS's always high-rated 60 Minutes. Sunday's first hour posted a 4.9 rating and an 8 share, beating Cold Case on CBS which pulled a 3.4/6. Dateline's 10:00 p.m. feature improved to a 5.5/9,nearly twice that of NBC's 10:00 p.m. Flashpoint which scored a 2.6/5.

Disney learned Sunday that its High School Musical brand has limits to its success. Only 4 million viewers tuned in to High School Musical: Get in the Picture, a talent competition that aired on Disney's ABC. The show placed dead last among the key demographic group of adults 18-49. Last year 17.24 million viewers tuned in to the Disney Channel for the debut of High School Musical 2. ABC was apparently so confident of big numbers for Sunday night's show that it scheduled a repeat for tonight (Monday). Continuing to make a strong showing on Sunday night was NBC's magazine show Dateline, which NBC recently moved to 9:00 p.m. from its former 7:00 p.m. time period where it competed head-to-head against CBS's top-rated 60 Minutes. A two-hour edition of Dateline led in both the 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. hours, beating reruns of such top regular-season audience grabbers as CBS's Cold Case and CSI: NY and ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Desperate Housewives. Overall ratings for the broadcast networks continued to look bleak, with NBC winning the night with just a 4.0 rating and a 7 share. CBS finished second with a 3.9/7. ABC placed third with a 2.7/5, which Fox trailed with a 1.8/3.

Today I’m chatting about Supernatural, Virtuality, Heroes, Knight Rider, and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Kind of like a grab bag!
The creator and executive producer of The CW’s show Supernatural, Eric Kripke, just signed an exclusive two year deal with Warner Brothers Television. In that deal, he will continue to run Supernatural and will be developing other projects under the contract for them.
An article in Variety surmised that one of those projects might be a prequel to Supernatural. Kripke has been interested in a prequel to Supernatural based in the old west and if he gets that chance, I think he can pull it off. He’s the kind of twisted person who likes watching editors jump and cringe while they work on his stuff. (I like this guy!) And I’d like to see how that much coveted Colt came about. (Eric, are you reading this?

Emmy's winners for acting are chosen in a three-tier system by actors who belong to the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. During the first two weeks of June, they participate in a popular vote that determines a Top 10 runoff in each race. Finalists submit a sample episode of their best work to judges, whose scores are combined by accountants in a 50-50 mix with results of the original popular vote. The five nominees in each category are then announced July 17. Winners are decided based on judges' scores of the sample episodes and are revealed at the awards ceremony to

The audience for Abc's Desperate Housewives appeared to be returning to the show Sunday after two weeks in which its ratings sank to their lowest levels ever. While Nielsen numbers for the show continued to come in below their previous highs, Sunday's edition was easily the top-rated show of the night, with 16.63 million viewers tuning in, resulting in a 10.8 rating and a 17 share. Analysts attributed the ratings boost to a general realization among viewers that new episodes are returning after the long hiatus that followed the writers' strike. ABC also saw its shows on each side of Housewives perform solidly as well. At 8:00 p.m., Extreme Makeover: Home Edition tied with Cbs's Cold Case for the lead with a 7.4/13. And at 10:00 p.m., Abc's Brothers & Sisters far outdistanced the competition with a 7.5/13.

In April, dozens of scripted shows will return to the broadcast networks. Thank goodness! Though I've already posted details on the returns of "The Office" (here and here) "30 Rock," "Ugly Betty" and "House," I thought I'd collect all the information I have in one place.
First, here's a chronological list of return dates (to see the return dates sorted by network, go here).
Second, for those who want more than just return dates, I've got details on what will happen on many shows, in addition to the ones mentioned above, on the second half of this item.
If you don’t spot a favorite show on either list, by the way, be aware that some programs aren’t returning until fall, and the fate of several others has not been officially announced yet. There's more info on what's returning in the fall here.
Here are the return dates of scripted
