19 June 2008 7:20 AM, PDT | From syfyportal.com | See recent syfyportal news

If Doomsday looks a little familiar when you turn on the upcoming season of "Smallville," then you really do pay attention to science-fiction. Sam Witwer, who played Crashdown in the first and second seasons of "Battlestar Galactica," has been cast to play the new evil Doomsday in "Smallville" this season, according to Michael Ausiello. He'll be joined by Cassidy Freeman as Tess, a "sexy and vengeful firecracker with whom Lex hires to run his empire in his absence." We recently reported on how much the Hollywood couple George Clooney and Sarah Larson liked cuddling up on a warm sofa and tuning into the crazy reality show, Rock of Love.   Along with the end of the second season of the dating game, it seems that 47-year-old actor and 29-year-old former Las Vegas cocktail waitress decided to call it quits.  An insider reportedly said that Larson had moved out of Clooney's home in Los Angeles shortly after the break-up.

"George is relieved to be single again," an insider told In Touch Weekly.  "He thinks Sarah is sweet and that is why it was so hard to break up with her."

Moreover, the insider reports that Clooney, who has been dating Larson for almost a year now, doesn't want to be attached to anyone at the moment.

"The truth is that they had little in common and he just doesn't want to be tied down,

They're back! The details on what happens when your favorite shows return

25 March 2008 9:55 AM, PDT | From Watcher | See recent Watcher news

In April, dozens of scripted shows will return to the broadcast networks. Thank goodness! Though I've already posted details on the returns of "The Office" (here and here) "30 Rock," "Ugly Betty" and "House," I thought I'd collect all the information I have in one place.

First, here's a chronological list of return dates (to see the return dates sorted by network, go here).

Second, for those who want more than just return dates, I've got details on what will happen on many shows, in addition to the ones mentioned above, on the second half of this item.

If you don’t spot a favorite show on either list, by the way, be aware that some programs aren’t returning until fall, and the fate of several others has not been officially announced yet. There's more info on what's returning in the fall here.

Clooney: 'I'm Not Returning To Er'

18 March 2008 12:17 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Hollywood superstar George Clooney has laughed off rumours he is set to return to the long-running U.S. medical drama Er for its final season.

Reports alleged the 46-year-old was one of the former stars of the hit series due to make a small-screen comeback to celebrate the hit show ending after its 15th season later this year.

But Clooney - who shot to fame with his portrayal of hunky Dr Douglas Ross - has dismissed the claims, insisting the series' bosses have not asked him to come back.

And the actor wasn't the only one shocked by the rumours of his return - he claims the show's executive producer John Wells had no idea of his supposed cameo appearance either.

He explains, "No, we never even talked about it. No one has ever asked me. It's the funniest thing. The story came out, and I was like, 'Where did that come from?' It was everywhere - I mean in one day!

"I ran into John Wells two days ago on the lot . and said to him, 'What the hell happened?' He said, 'I don't know. I don't know where that came from."

But Clooney isn't discounting how crucial the role was to his catapulting him to stardom, adding, "I was 33 when Er hit, so I have a very different outlook on the way things work.

"I don't think I was supposed to have been famous. I realize how much of this is luck."

Clooney To Return To Er?

14 March 2008 9:05 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Actor George Clooney is reportedly set to make a comeback on the long-running Us medical drama Er for its final season.

The series' producer David Zabel is desperate to get characters old and new together for a one-off special to celebrate the hit show ending - namely Clooney, who would reprise his role as Dr Douglas Ross.

The TV drama, which will close after its 15th season, catapulted the 46-year-old star to the Hollywood A-list after his run on the show from 1994 to 1999.

Zabel says, "We want to revisit characters that have existed on the show over the years and say where they are now.

"We'd love to get them all back in some way - that doesn't mean we are going to but we are going to try."

And bosses at the show's U.S. network NBC are also eager to bring back actor Anthony Edwards - despite the fact his character Dr Mark Greene died of a brain tumour.

Zabel adds, "There are ways to do it that we've thought about - even if it were like a lost episode from 1996."

TV Star Allport Dies in Avalanche

30 January 2008 | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

American TV star Christopher Allport has died in an avalanche while snowboarding in California. The 60-year-old actor is the third person to die after a trio of freak avalanches caused by snowstorms ripped through the West Coast of America. The veteran actor, who was a huge fan of skiing, was found near the Mountain High Ski resort in Wrightwood, California. Allport had appeared in many of TV's most popular series, including ER, Felicity and Matlock. In a bizarre twist, the actor had once warned about the dangers of skiing in a newspaper article, saying, "Any excursion into the mountains requires awareness. Have fun, but be careful." The other two victims were named as Michael McKay, 23, an off-duty member of the resort's patrol team, and Darin Coffey, 31. Both were allegedly skiing outside the resort's strict boundaries.

Clooney's Bid To End Writers Strike

14 January 2008 | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

George Clooney has offered to act as a mediator between the Writers Guild of America (WGA) union members and Hollywood bosses in a bid to end the strikes. The writers have been on picket lines since November, bringing production on Hollywood movies to a standstill and causing a number of TV networks to release staff and air repeat shows. The strike also forced the organizers of Sunday's Golden Globes ceremony to cancel the event after actors threatened to boycott. But the Michael Clayton star has offered to set up a "mediation panel" to settle the WGA members' grievances - and plans to ask Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and ER producer John Wells to help him end the dispute, according to L.A. Weekly. Speaking of the strikes earlier this week, he said, "When the strike happens, it's not just writers (affected)... Our hope is that all the players will lock themselves in a room and not come out until they finish. We want this to be done. That's the most important thing."
