Vrouwenvleugel is without a doubt the best Dutch television show ever. The series portrayed a large scale of very diverse characters. The script was written straight, sharp, edgey, sometimes funny and always to the point. Just as life usually is.
The camera-work, the lights, the clothing, the make-up and so on were sober like it should be. Life behind bars isn't fancy, life for most isn't as well.
Almost all other Dutch television shows are over the top in every single way possible. The characters are, the script is, the jokes are and the lived life usually is. Vrouwenvleugel is one of the very few series that didn't follow those academic rules. It didn't get into the standards and didn't copy from foreign shows. It was pure, unique and simple like a good dish should be!
