An extremely pathetic effort to make a Tarzan film.
Although, it's probably fair to say that this one is less a Tarzan film that a film about a bunch of white guys going in the jungle to seek treasure.
Tarzan is not on screen for more than a fourth of the film at most, which is a shame, because he evokes most of the laughs in this turkey.
Filmed in Ivory Coast, no effort is made to do a period piece. Actually, no traces of anything called production design can be detected in the film. No sets are built, no costumes used (Apart from Tarzan's loin cloth, of course), it just seems that they went to Africa to film the "actors" in their own travel clothes. Most of the time the native people look genuinely surprised, one wanders were they aware they were filmed...
Overlong, slowly paced and utterly predictable, this one can only be recommended for hard core fans of turkey cinema.
Where did the Tarzan get all those protein pills in the jungle?
Released on video in Finland in the early eighties.
