Square Pegs was a show that had its prime time run from late 1982 to early 1983, exactly 7 months; it was basically about kids starting out at Weemawee High. It starred Sarah Jessica Parker, Amy Linker, Tracy Nelson, and Jami Gertz before anyone knew who they were. I have to say the young actors did a terrific job without much assistance from older, veteran actors; therefore, the kids carried the show until its premature death. Square Pegs captured the essence of the early 1980's and had musical guests on like Devo and the Waitresses on before the MTV revolution began. For a show which didn't have a long shelf life, there were several guest stars on, which included the talented Bill Murray, the not so talented Steve Sax(LA Dodgers), Tony Dow, and Father Guido Sarducci. As you watch Square Pegs, you actually feel like you were living in the time period from 1982-83, with the music, clothing, pop culture, video games, and the catch phrases. I only wish the show had more of a chance to continue on, but wasn't meant to be, which is sad.
