Fun Stuff
Trivia:
The first "Weekend Update" anchor, Chevy Chase, has said that he modeled his catchphrase "Good evening, I'm Chevy Chase and you're not" after "Eyewitness News" (1968) anchor Roger Grimsby's opening line "Good evening, I'm Roger Grimsby, here now the news." However, Chase's successor as "Update" anchor, Jane Curtin, would go on to use Grimsby's original intro to open the newscast, and once, on the 22 April 1978 edition, ended that night's "Update" with Grimsby's closing line, "Hoping your news is good news." moreGoofs:
Incorrectly regarded as goofs: ...almost everything. Live television is largely exempt from the usual rules of goofs. moreQuotes:
Norm Macdonald: [On Weekend Update] LaToya Jackson. What does it take to be known as the 'crazy' member of the Jackson family? moreMovie Connections:

In the days of Mike Myers, Chris Farley, Adam Sandler, and Dana Carvey, this show was hilarious. Today, although Will Ferrel adds some spark..this show just isn't as good. Maybe if they added more sketches, and took away the guest bands it would be better. The bands take up about 20 minutes of each show..making time for about 8 sketches, and that's assuming that three or four are pretty short. Although this show is still pretty hilarious, it needs some good cast members again..and now that Molly Shannon is gone...it needs them SOON!
